Safety switch STP

Based on the plastic-encapsulated safety switch TP with guard locking, the safety switch STP features both an actuating head and an internal cam made of metal. As a result, the switch can be used for applications which require high locking forces (up to 2,500 N). The safety switch STP has a switching element with four switching contacts. EUCHNER supplies the STP with various contact combinations (positively driven NC contacts/NO contacts).

Dual-channel wiring to achieve the maximum possible safety level is possible with all possible variants. Given the particular property of the switching contacts of switching a minimum current of 1 mA, the safety switch STP is suitable for use on safe control systems.

Safety switch STP-BI

If there is a risk that someone may be accidentally locked in an accessible danger area, the EU Machinery directive stipulates: "Machinery must be designed, constructed or fitted with a means of preventing an exposed person from being enclosed within it or, if that is impossible, with a means of summoning help.

The safety switch STP with bi-state function is used for the prevention of accidental locking-in inside the danger area. The guard locking always remains in its current position when electrically isolated (for example shut down of the system, power failure…) and meets the requirements on a guard locking device as per DIN EN ISO 1088:

  • The safety door remains either continuously locked after a loss of power, that is the user cannot enter the danger area at all
  • Or the safety door can be opened or closed as required, because the guard locking cannot be activated unintentionally due to locking of the guard locking pin

Mechanical release

Control of the guard locking solenoid

Control of the guard locking solenoid

The guard locking solenoid is controlled by the control system via AS-Interface bus bit D0. It is only supplied from the AS-i bus, an additional supply of auxiliary power is not necessary. The current consumption with solenoid switched on is 400 mA.

Mechanical release

Is used for releasing the guard locking with the aid of a tool. To protect against tampering, the mechanical release is sealed with sealing lacquer.

Escape release

Is used for the manual release of the guard locking from within the danger area without tools. With identification of On/Off position.

A cover for indicators (1 LED, green) is available for the following voltage ranges:

Guard locking types

STP3Closed-circuit current principle, guard locking by spring force. Release by applying voltage to the guard locking solenoid.
